7.Lupita Nyong’o With Her Brother Peter

For Lupita Nyong’o’s introduction to acting, it’s safe to say a portion of the credit goes to her family. Throughout her childhood, Lupita and her cousins would often perform whenever they had get-togethers – they would also watch stage plays. A few years after, she landed her on-screen debut in 2008’s short film East River. Since then, Lupita has become most known for her work on movies such as Us and her performance as Nakia in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Another portrayal she’s known for is as Patsey in the 2013 biopic 12 Years a Slave. The role was so widely praised that it even landed her a nomination and an invitation to that year’s Academy Awards ceremony. She may have ultimately won the best supporting actress award, but who’s to say the actress’ companion, her brother Peter, didn’t achieve something just as memorable? Before calling it a night, Peter took the opportunity to be a part of what has since been know “the most famous selfie.”
